Colorful KO Team Members Susan, Erica, and Amber

SPONSORS & CHARITY

We are excited to be partnering with the Park's Foundation of Kalamazoo County!
We are currently seeking charities and sponsors to work with for this event. Contact Us for more info.

RULES TO DYE BY:

FIRST RULE: Don't worry - be Happy! Run or Dye is for everyone. No need to worry about if you are too fast, too slow, too old, too young, or too sexy! Just come experience the magic of the most colorful 5K this world has to offer!
SECOND RULE: You are your own canvas - Wearing all white may show off the color-or get costume-CRAZY wearing that old wedding dress, 80's leg warmers, or those snakeskin pajamas. See you at the starting line!
LAST RULE: Get ready to DYE and go to heaven! The Dye Zone is where the magic happens! Our Color Crew is specially trained to administer Random Acts of Color with total efficiency. (HINT: We also love subliminal messages, such as: begging and pleading, striking that pose that makes us all uncomfortable, or dancing like a maniac. These are all code for "HIT ME WITH COLOR!")

Chew on This: Invisalign TEEN Simplifies Eating During Orthodontics

Chew on this . . . eating what she liked was no issue for Ashley Lewis with Invisalign TEEN at Kalamazoo Orthodontics.

Avery's New Braces

Avery Moran just got her braces placed and requested that we post a picture of her "scary" look with lip retractors in place.  So, here we are . . . along with a shot of her wearing her Kalamazoo Orthodontics tee-shirt and Kid's Club membership card and lavaliere.  What a cute young lady starting on the road to a great smile!

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror. The new mirrors are in! Funny how little things intrigue us. The new "fog less" mirror systems have arrived to help improve our photographic capabilities. Always looking for improvements, no matter how small at KO. — at Kalamazoo Orthodontics - Dr. S. Jay Bowman.

KO 'Library'

We always like to have entertaining reading material available in our reception area. We just added a new Harry Potter book to our collection for folks to enjoy, held here by our financial coordinator, Sue; further accenting our HP display that was created by Sherry Bowman.

Invisalign Teen at Kalamazoo Orthodontics

Ask away! Clinical studies show that most teens don't have a problem with wearing their aligners for the suggested 22 hours daily. #InvisalignTalk

I believe the clinical study they're describing was partially generated out of Kalamazoo Orthodontics . . .

Clinical Photography Seminar with Rita Bauer at Kalamazoo Orthodontics

Clinical photography is an integral aspect of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. In addition, patient photographs are often used to analyze the progression of the orthodontic process, enabling the orthodontist to modify biomechanics during patient care. As we are always looking to up our game at Kalamazoo Orthodontics, we asked leading authority on clinical dental photography to provide us an in-house seminar. Rita Bauer has 25 years of experience in the field teaching at the University of Toronto and brought her infectious enthusiasm to improve our team’s skills. In the process, we also had a fantastic time just working with cameras and we look forward to her encore follow-up visit with us. Your smiles will never look better!

Hannah Grabowski Describes Her Positive Experience at Kalamazoo Orthodon...

Hannah Grabowski describes her great experience in braces with Dr. Bowman and our KO Bracing Team at Kalamazoo Orthodontics. Hannah had a pretty difficult case with some seriously twisted teeth, but her treatment went smoothly and on-time with a great result. — at Kalamazoo Orthodontics - Dr. S. Jay Bowman.

Brace Yourself for the KO Golf Team

Kalamazoo Orthodontics team members participated in a charity golf outing supporting the Portage Community Center. Our insurance coordinator, Therese, won Longest Drive and a gift certificate from Latitude 42. Treatment coordinators, Susan and Courtney, ran out of juice and pushed their golf cart back to the clubhouse . . . and John, one of our clinical assistants, apparently got to hold the sign.

I'd Have Baked a Cake!

In 1950, Eileen Barton sang the popular song, "If I Knew You Were Coming [to get your braces off], I'd've Baked a Cake." Kathryn Ingle took those lyrics seriously to seal-the-deal to insure that her Butterfly System braces would be removed (at KO we take bribes!). Besides the cake, Kat also made an entertaining candy-coated poster for Dr. Bowman! — atKalamazoo Orthodontics - Dr. S. Jay Bowman.

Freshly de-braced smile for Kathryn Ingle. KO team member Erica has a lovely KO smile, too!

Thanks for Braces

Just had to share this "thank you" note from one of our braced patients that was sent to his parents.  Changing the lives for someone who was bullied because of his teeth to a confidence-building smile is quite satisfying for Team KO.

Society of Educators

As a member of the faculty of 4 orthodontic residency programs, Dr. Bowman attended the 2014 Lysle E. Johnston, Jr. Society of Educators Leadership Conference at the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session. The conference honored Dr. Lysle Johnston, professor emeritus at both The University of Michigan and Dr. Bowman's alma mater, Saint Louis University. An enjoyable time spent with my mentor at a special event honoring his contributions to the orthodontic specialty throughout his career.

Presentation at the 114th American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session

Dr. Jay Bowman lectured at the 114th Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists meeting. The title of his talk this year was, "A View from the Clinical Trenches: Accelerated Class II Treatment." He presented the results thus far from Kalamazoo Orthodontics on-going clinical research on AcceleDent accentuated treatment.

Dr. Jay Bowman and Brazilian colleague, Dr. Fernando De Abreu Pereira catch-up right after Dr. Bowman's presentation at the 114th American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session.

Thank you to the folks at OrthoAccel for their patient support of Kalamazoo Orthodontics' clinical research project on AcceleDent. Good friends like Art Basehart from OrthoAccel have made this work enjoyable and satisfying. It was gratifying to see the first part of the project through to its fruition with 2 presentations at our national orthodontic meeting - the 114th Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists.

Thanks to my collaborators, colleagues, and friends from around the world for all their support and encouragement for my orthodontic endeavors. It was great to catch-up with folks from India to South Africa, Australia to Germany, Italy to England, Canada to France, Brazil to Mexico, and points between.

During the busy event, Jay joined Dr. and Mrs. Buzz Behrents (the new Editor of the American Journal of Orthodontics) and Dr. Mark Hans (chair at Case Western Reserve University) for dinner.

It was great to catch-up with Sam Daher, the top Invisalign provider in the world (from Vancouver) at our national meeting. He's an excellent speaker and clinician. Looking forward to visiting with Sam when he visits Michigan again in June.

Pulsus a Mortuus Equus

Dr. Bowman's most recent publication, "Pulsus a Mortus Equus (Beating a Dead Horse)" is a featured article in the March 2014 issue of Seminars in Orthodontics.  This opinion piece is supported by an extensive literature review and covers many of the controversial issues within orthodontics.  http://semortho.com
